No stress chill-out Tea Time at Proud Phuket

Actually there are a few options on the Phuket island to have tea but we only had a day to spend as we were on our way home from Koh Yao Yai to Germany. Our hotel was only a few hundred meters away from the airport and with a beautiful beach just around the corner anyway, we decided to explore the area. This is where we came across the newly opened Proud Phuket Hotel and their Ang Ku Tea House.

You can choose between a Thai and a Western set and again we decided to take both. The staff friendly noted that one set is enough for two persons, but it was so cheap and she was clearly underestimating the volume of our stomachs.

The colonial style interior is held in white and orange with some low tables and sofa's to relax. Ofcourse there is air conditioning to cool down from the heat. Overall the atmosphere is very laid-back. Don't expect this place to be overly chique and the staff is a bit chaotic as well.

   

So what's the deal per set? A tea of choice, one freshly made juice and a soft drink to keep you hydrated. The Western set included two pieces of cake from the counter and tons of other stuff impossible for one person to finish. The Thai set consisted of a nice choice of rice cakes, steamed pudding, banana leaf-wrapped sweets, dumplings and a spring roll. Sadly they don't serve classical scones with clotted cream but it makes for a relaxing experience anyway.

Ang Ku serves their own blend of tea. This one was very smooth.

Well, I ended up asking for a doggy bag for the cookies. At least I would have something decent on the flight home. Sigh, flying just isn't what it used to be anymore.
